Understanding wedding insurance

Dream Wedding Insurance protects your wedding deposits and pre-payments when you need to cancel, reschedule or postpone your wedding due to specified events occurring. Dream Wedding Insurance also protects you if you’re let down by your venue/caterer/florist or other wedding suppliers, if you have to cancel due to injury/sickness/adverse weather, if you damage hired equipment, if you face legal liabilities due to property damage or injury and more. Each of these events could leave you in financial hardship… and that’s where wedding insurance comes in. Dream Wedding Insurance gives you comfort that, if certain unfortunate events occur, deposits and pre-payments are protected.

Terms, conditions, limits and exclusions apply. Coverage is available to Australian residents that are getting married in Australia or New Zealand. You can purchase a policy up to 30 days before the wedding or up to 12 months in advance.

THESE POLICIES WILL NOT HAVE COVERAGE FOR CLAIMS RELATING TO COVID-19 BUT WILL BE FULLY REFUNDED OR AMENDED TO A FUTURE DATE IF THE WEDDING IS UNABLE TO GO AHEAD DUE TO GOVERNMENT LOCKDOWNS OR SOCIAL DISTANCING RESTRICTIONS.

Wedding Insurance Benefits

Coverage at home or overseas

We will provide coverage for Australian residents that are getting married in Australia or New Zealand. Personal Liability coverage is not included for NZ weddings.

Wedding Event Cancellation or Postponement

If it is necessary to cancel or postpone your wedding event, we will reimburse you, up to the amount shown in your schedule, for certain unforeseen events. Coverage includes cancellation by the venue, injury or sickness to the bride, groom or an immediate family member, adverse weather or natural catastrophe and more.

Rescheduling of the Wedding Event

In the event of a covered cancellation or postponement, we will reimburse you, up to the amount shown in your schedule, for reasonable additional costs incurred to reschedule the event within 90 days from the original wedding date.

Wedding Attire & Wedding Rings

If your wedding attire is lost or damaged then we will reimburse you, up to the amount shown in your schedule, for the cost to either repair or replace the wedding attire. If within seven (7) days prior or at your wedding event your wedding rings are lost or damaged we will reimburse you, up to the amount stated in your schedule, for the cost to either repair or replace the wedding rings.

Wedding Gifts

If within seven (7) days prior or at your wedding event your wedding gifts are lost or damaged, we will reimburse you, up to the amounts outlined in your schedule, for the cost to either repair or replace the wedding gifts. The maximum amount payable for wedding gifts is $500 per item. The maximum amount payable for money is $500 in aggregate.

Wedding Supplier Failure

If your wedding supplier fails to meet written, signed and contracted obligations to you for your wedding event due to the wedding supplier’s bankruptcy, liquidation, administration or non-appearance, we will pay you up to the amount stated in your schedule for additional wedding supplier costs. You are not covered under this section if the wedding supplier becomes bankrupt, insolvent or is put into liquidation or administration within 30 days after the date of issue.

Transport

If your vehicle hire firm fails to meet written, signed and contracted obligations to you including non-appearance, or due to breakdown or accident, we will pay you up to the amount stated in your schedule for additional transport costs.

Hired Equipment

If hired equipment, including marquees, tents, gazebos, portable flooring, chairs, tables, furniture or lighting equipment, is accidentally damaged whilst in your care, custody and control, we will reimburse you, up to the amount stated in your schedule, for the cost to repair or replace the accidentally damaged hired equipment. Hired equipment does not include audio and visual equipment.

 

 

 

Personal Liability

We will cover you, up to the amount stated in the schedule, in respect of your legal liability arising from accidental injury to third parties or accidental loss of or damage to third party property during the wedding date in Australia. We will also pay for legal costs and expenses in defending any claim in respect to such injury, loss or damage.

Professional Counselling

We will cover you, up to the amount in the schedule, the expenses you necessarily incur for professional counselling as a result of emotional distress because the wedding event is cancelled or postponed.
