Wedding insurance is an insurance policy that couples can purchase that covers certain out of pocket expenses in the event that something goes wrong on the lead up to, and on, the big day. Wedding insurance ensures that you’re reimbursed for certain lost deposits and payments and will also cover additional costs associated with the wedding and related services. Australian resident couples getting married in the 37 destinations we cover. Dream Wedding Insurance can be purchased by the Bride, Groom or the parents or guardians of the bride or groom.

You are able to purchase online at dreamweddinginsurance.com by simply selecting the level of cover applicable to your wedding budget, completing the requested information and purchasing with a MasterCard or Visa. The whole process takes less than 5 minutes!

Cover starts from the day you take out a policy. You can purchase Dream Wedding Insurance up to 12 months prior to the wedding event and no sooner than 30 days before the wedding event. The policy coverage will cease at the completion of the wedding date as outlined in your schedule. There is a 30 day waiting period following the purchase of your policy for wedding supplier failure coverage.

No. There is no excess or deductable on this policy.

We can cover wedding events up to 3 days in length. You can select the length of the event during the purchase of the policy.

Personal liability insurance will cover you for the cost of compensation against your legal liability for injuries or damage to other people or property. Please read the policy wording for policy limitations and exclusions.

You must pay by credit card when you take out a policy. We accept MasterCard or Visa and transactions are completed securely online. Your confirmation email will arrive in seconds, along with your schedule.

You are covered if your wedding is cancelled due to specified events listed in the policy. If any of the specified events occur, you may have to pay for suppliers or goods that you’ve booked but cannot use. Under this cover, you would be able to claim for these costs. Please refer to the policy wording for the list of specific events that are covered against cancellation of the wedding.

No. This insurance is for the wedding event only.

You are covered up to the limits detailed in the policy schedule. You can increase the level of cover up to 30 days before the wedding, you will need to pay the additional premium. Simply email hello@dreamweddinginsurance.com and request an upgrade.

Each claim is assessed individually and our objective is to settle all claims as quickly as possible. We seek to resolve claims within 7-10 days.

Yes! As long as the incident occurs after the date of purchase, you will have coverage for payments and deposits that were paid prior to purchasing a policy. Please read the policy wording for limitations and exclusions.

No, the full premium must be paid at the commencement of the policy.

Costs incurred by either party deciding not to go ahead with the wedding will not be paid. Please read the policy wording for limitations and exclusions.

There is a fifteen (15) day cooling-off period. If you wish to cancel the policy, you can cancel it by contacting Dream Wedding Insurance within fifteen (15) days of its date of issue. We will refund all the premium paid less any non-refundable government charges, taxes and levies that we have paid. You cannot exercise this right if you have made a claim under the insurance during the cooling-off period.

If adverse weather or a natural catastrophe causes the cancellation or postponement of your wedding, then cover is provided subject to limitations and exclusions. Please refer to the policy wording.

Yes, this policy can be purchased for civil partnership ceremonies.

Yes, an Australian resident is defined as an Australian Citizen OR a person who is living in Australia and is either a permanent visa holder or a protected special category visa (SCV) holder.

If either you or your partner are an Australian resident, then you are eligible to purchase a policy

No. This cover is for weddings only.

Coverage is provided in the event of injury or sickness which results in you or an immediate family member being unable to attend the wedding event due to their treating medical practitioner advising them not to attend the wedding event. Please refer to the Policy Wording for exclusions and limitations.

This policy does not cover pre-existing medical conditions of the bride, groom or immediate family members.

We provide coverage for non-refundable expenses and additional wedding supplier costs should your wedding suppliers fail to meet written, signed contracted obligations with you due to the wedding suppliers bankruptcy, insolvency, liquidation or administration which first occurs after the waiting period (note 30 day waiting period for wedding supplier failure cover) or non-appearance. Yes, we provide coverage against accidental damage to hired equipment including marquees. Please refer to the Policy Wording for exclusions and limitations.

This policy covers the cost of repair or replacement of wedding attire. Please refer to the Policy Wording for exclusions and limitations.

A Certificate of Currency will be provided via email immediately following your policy purchase. You can supply this to the venue.

Yes, subject to a maximum sum insured under your chosen level of cover. Please refer to the policy wording for exclusions and limitations.

Yes, we will cover wedding gifts including money, up to the limit outlined in the schedule. Please refer to the policy wording for limitations and exclusions.

Unfortunately, one of your suppliers (including florists) not appearing is not covered. However, if the cause of the supplier not appearing is due to an insolvency event we will provide cover. Please refer to the Policy Wording for exclusions and limitations.

We will provide coverage for prepaid non-refundable deposits and additional transport costs incurred in arranging equivalent alternative transport. Please refer to the Policy Wording for exclusions and limitations.

Australian Resident means an Australian citizen or a person who is living in Australia and is either:
• a permanent visa holder, or
• a protected Special Category Visa (SCV) holder.

Only one of you must be an Australian resident.

Yes. Liability insurance is included as standard in every policy that we offer. Personal Liability insurance is not covered for weddings outside of Australia. Please refer to the Policy Wording for exclusions and limitations.

Generally speaking, when a venue requests that you purchase public or personal liability, they want to insure that you are covered, from a legal standpoint, against third party property damage and/or third party injury. For this instance, personal liability and public liability are the same thing. Ask your venue for clarification if there is any doubt.

Pre-existing medical conditions are excluded and you will not be able to make a claim under the policy. Please refer to the Pre-Existing Medical conditions definition in the Policy Wording.

In case of a covered cancellation/postponement claim, your non-refundable wedding-related expenses will be reimbursed.
